Organization and Chapter History Banner

Chartered on May 5, 1961, Tau Kappa Epsilon is the oldest Greek organization at UNO. Today, Tekes hold many prominent positions on campus including, Student Government, Student Activities Council, the Driftwood, and Homecoming Court.  TKE is also a fiercely competitive fraternity in Intramural Sports, being the Swampball and Sigma Kappa Kickball champions, while also being very competitive in intramural football. Just as we are athletically inclined, Tau Kappa Epsilon expects serious attention to academic performance. A strong academic record not only prepares members for success after graduation, but it also helps them strengthen their mind to the world. TKE will help its members excel in their academic life and assist in their pursuits afterwards. By being a TKE, there is never a dull moment. Whether it is our TKEquila party, Tiki Island, Luau, Fright Fest, Red Carnation Ball, tubing trips, road trips to neighboring TKE chapters, mixers with sororities, or just hanging out with the brothers, there is always something to do. Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity was founded on January 10, 1899, on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University. Our fraternity was founded upon the principles of scholarship, character, leadership, teamwork, service and brotherhood. Even in its humble beginnings in Bloomington, these ideals were held high as they remain today. TKE is one of the largest fraternity in the world with over 242,000 initiated members from 277 active chapters and colonies in the United States and Canada. Tekes around the world act as a network of friends, which can be very beneficial both personally and professionally to our members. Even though our motto says, “Not for Wealth, Rank, or Honor,” the perks of being a TKE are endless.
