Information for Potential Members of UNO Fraternities & Sororities

Joining a Greek organization is one of the best ways to get involved at the University of New Orleans. Fraternity and sorority members hold leadership positions in Student Government, Student Activities Council, Progressive Black Student Union, the Driftwood campus newspaper, professional organizations, the UNO Honors program, and a variety of honor societies.

Interfraternity Council (IFC) Recruitment

In the spring semester IFC fraternities (Kappa Sigma, Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Kappa Theta, Tau Kappa Epsilon, and Theta Xi) each host individual recruitment events. Contact Liz Schafer for more information.

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Fraternity and Sorority Membership Intake

NPHC fraternities and sororities (Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.; Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.; and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.) bring in new members at different times of the year through a process called Membership Intake. Each NPHC group has different requirements for membership, and each conducts intake on its own schedule. More information about the NPHC groups and intake is available on the NPHC page.

Several of the NPHC fraternities and sororities are holding interest/informational meetings or other events that will introduce the UNO community to what their organizations are about. (Additional events will be added as information becomes available.) Students interested in joining one of these groups should attend its informational meeting to learn about the membership requirements and the process for joining.

Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment

The Panhellenic sororities (Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta, Sigma Kappa, and Zeta Tau Alpha) host their annual spring recruitment open house, Sorority Soiree, on Tuesday, February 12, at 7 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Homer Hitt Alumni Center. At the event attendees will meet members of the 4 Panhellenic sororities and receive information about additional recruitment events each will host in the following days. For more information about this event, or if you are interested in sorority membership but unable to attend, contact Lindsey White, Panhellenic Recruitment Coordinator.
