Organization and Chapter History Banner

Delta Zeta was founded on October 24, 1902 in Oxford, Ohio at Miami University. Miami has been nicknamed the "Mother of Fraternities" because 5 social Greek organizations have been founded on its campus. Our six founders, Alpha Lloyd, Anna Keen, Maybelle Minton, Julia Bishop, Anne Dial Simmons, and Mary Collins shared a common dream of lasting friendship, a dream still exists today for over one hundred thousand women all over the United States and Canada. Today, Delta Zeta is one of the largest and most recognized national sororities in the country!

Delta Zeta's colors are Old Rose and Vieux Green, our mascot is the Turtle, our symbol is the Roman Lamp and our national philanthropy is the Speech and Hearing Impaired. On a national level, Delta Zeta works with Gallaudet University, the only university completely geared toward the higher education of the speech and hearing impaired and the House Ear Institute. Locally, the Theta Kappa Chapter works with the Bright Preschool in uptown New Orleans.

The Theta Kappa Chapter at the University of New Orleans was founded on May 4, 1963 and just celebrated their 40th year on UNO's Campus!
